Welcome to My Online Teaching Portfolio!
Hi there! My name is Emily Brown and I am a 7th year kindergarten teacher in the Archdiocese of Louisville school system. I have a Masters in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and I am so excited about continuing my journey as an educator. I created this digital portfolio to showcase my teaching experiences, my educational philosophy, and some sample unit and lesson plans that I have created throughout my education and teaching experiences.
I worked as a Graphic Designer from August 2005 until January 2011 and in 2009, I finally decided to go back to school and pursue my teaching career. I have been fortunate enough to carry my creative background with me into the classroom.
Thank you for taking time to view my digital portfolio. Below are a few pictures of my current and previous classrooms as well as some of me during my field experiences at UAB

My math focus wall displays the focus question for each lesson. This allows students to be aware of what they are learning prior to the lesson. It creates a deeper understanding of the content.

We follow the Daily 5 center rotation during our literacy block. Writing during Daily 5 gives students additional writing practice during our school day. This is a sample activity that I created to incorporate into our writing center during Daily 5.
