EMT Program, University of Alabama at Birmingham
Traditionally, UAB student teachers are supervised during their student teaching by the University. I am honored to have been one of six students chosen to participate in the EMT program for Spring 2012. This program places top students from the School of Education with mentoring supervising teachers during student teaching. The program allows the classroom teacher to supervise the student teacher directly and provides for a more hands on learning experience. Rather than having lessons evaluated only a few times during the semester, EMT candidates are reviewed and evaluated on a regular basis by the classroom teacher.
Being a part of this program allowed me to grow even further as an educator. My experiences with my mentor teacher enriched my ever-growing love for teaching and also provided me with priceless insight to what the real world of teaching is all about. I enjoyed being a part of the EMT program and the opportunities it provided for me. The EMT program is run by Dr. Lois Christensen. For more information about the program you can reach Dr. Christensen by phone (205)934-5371.
